About
Our Story
NeuAbility was founded in 2007, once known as the Spinal Cord Recovery Project. Through a shared realization between Joe White and Dave Hart, they noticed there wasn’t a place to get an adaptive movement based program that someone with a spinal cord injury could turn to once formal rehabilitation ended. The gap between those two things was the beginning of something special. Early on, we offered mobile exercise sessions. As the demand for these sessions grew, we moved into a small facility in Boulder, laying the foundation for what would become NeuAbility’s permanent home in Denver, Colorado.
Over the years staff members, countless amount of interns and volunteers, clients and supporters have helped move this organization forward into what it is today. Now operating out of a 5,000-square-foot adaptive wellness facility, NeuAbility provides evidence-based adaptive exercise programming, integrative therapies, and a place to feel like a driven community for confidence, independence, and social opportunities. More than a gym, it has become a long-term, community-based resource for people navigating life after neurological injuries and disorders. NeuAbility exists to support recovery beyond discharge and to help people re-engage in active, meaningful lives.
Our Mission
NeuAbility supports people living with spinal cord injury and neurological conditions by bridging the gap between rehabilitation and lifelong wellness by providing clinically informed adaptive exercise, integrative therapies, and community connection.

I’ve come to NeuAbility for 12 plus years, it’s been huge for the maintenance of my health, not just physical but provided a lot of community and those to socialize with. It’s gotten me through a lot of my life, I think it would’ve been a lot tougher otherwise without it.”
Rick: “Community, everyone has given me a sense…not self worth but a place I can feel worthy.”
